One of my favorite drills is the Bourque Drill.

Skaters play 3v3 (or 2v2) with a dedicated teammate behind their own net.

On change of possession, skaters need to regroup through their defenseman behind their net, and then the defenseman needs to initiate a breakout pass to their teammate before the team can attempt to score.

It teaches skaters to think to use their defense, but also to come back to the puck for the passes. This can be further modified to have two defenseman behind the net, if numbers support it.
